100% whole wheat pizza dough Recipe
Wednesday, March 4th, 2009Notes:
This is an awesome, 100% whole wheat pizza crust that is absolutely delish, easy to make, and soooo good for you! I got the original recipe off of allrecipes.com and made some slight modifications to the directions. I use this recipe at least once a week. If you’re a pizza lover like me, you can now eat pizza without any guilt!
Servings: 12
Ingredients:
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup wheat germ
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon honey
2 tablespoons olive oil
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a small mixing bowl, combine honey and warm water. Add yeast to top of the bowl and let it rest in a warm place until foamy, about ten minutes.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, wheat germ, and salt. Add yeast/honey mixture to flour and stir to combine until mixture forms a pliable ball. Oil the bottom of the bowl, making sure to coat the dough.
Cover bowl and put in a warm place until dough has risen to about double, or for 15-45 minutes.
Roll dough out onto pizza pan and pre-bake for 10-15 minutes.
Top pizza dough and put in oven an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve hot.
